Meyers Briggs

I'm an INFJ-A!

I learned about the Myers-Briggs Type Indicators (Personality Types) in 2021. I took the test on 16personalities.com and the results showed I was INFJ-A. I’ve re-taken the test twice since then, and every time it comes up INFJ-A. On other testing sites I also come up as INFJ. As I’ve learned about INFJ, and specifically the traits of the INFJ-A, I’ve found that this type describes me extremely well… as in, better than I can describe myself. It’s uncanny how I can watch a youtube video about INFJ’s and it totally matches me (with the exception of the videos that seem to be generated by AI – they get it most right, but the ones with live people seem to get it better).

It just so happens that INFJ is the least common type, and a lot of online people brag that it is the rarest type… but it’s only the least common by a fraction of a percentage point, thanks to some personalities being extremely common. My specific type is more rare, because it’s only roughly ⅓ of INFJ’s that are INFJ-A (instead of INFJ-T). The traits that are often associated with INFJs that I don’t feel match me well are usually those with the -T qualifier. It just so happens that out of the INFJ population, roughly ⅓ are male. I’m a male INFJ-A, so I guess that makes me ultra-rare.

Every Myers-Briggs type has strengths and weaknesses. I fit both the strengths and weaknesses for the INFJ-A, for better or for worse. I’ve collected some INFJ memes that I feel fit me very well, and you can view them here.

Like most INFJ men, I have “White Knight syndrome” AND “Good Guy Syndrome”. My past romantic relationships have been with “Damsels in Distress” and “Femme Fatales.” Now that I’m aware that I’m naturally drawn to that, I’m making a conscious decision to avoid those… not that I’ll be able to tell up front necessarily, but if I start a romantic relationship and detect that, I’m going to back out of the relationship.

Enneagram

(Nothing here yet -- TODO -- I need to take the test again.

TODO. I think I'm 1w2 or 5w4, but I need to take the test again. I've taken it a few times and don't feel like it matches me very well.

Other miscellaneous

The Hogwarts sorting hat has put me in Gryffindor and Ravenclaw.

While I've never played D&D, if I were a D&D character, I’m “lawful good”.
