Career

I am a principal software engineer, currently working for Ancestry

After graduating from College, I got a job locally doing software development. I wasn't married, plus I like Utah and had family here, so I felt no reason to move. There were a lot more software jobs in Utah than Hardware jobs (Computer Engineering is a cross between Computer Science and Electrical Engineering). I'm good at software development, and I enjoy it.

I've worked for a few companies, and I've now been with Ancestry since 2013. I'm a "backend engineer" -- that means I don't make websites (although I can hack my way around enough to create this site with the help of a template). I prefer working on efficiency problems rather than making shiny buttons.

At Ancestry, I work on a team that works with images. To over-simplify what I do: I make sure pictures of your grandma show up on the site.
