Favorite Movies

This list might change depending on my mood and what movies I've been thinking about recently...

I also enjoy sci-fi, drama, fantasy, and adventure movies. Like most guys, I enjoy a good action movie every once in a while, but don't feel a need to watch them again. I also like documentaries, but again, I don't feel the need to watch them again once I've seen them. I like to occasionally watch a rom-com with a significant other. I enjoy them, but not all the time.

Batman Begins

Prior to this movie, I was like "Batman? Meh." Batman Begins is a great movie. I love the character development. I like how it portrays Bruce Wayne's need to keep his Batman identity hidden and the sacrifices he has to make to do that, and the sacrifices he makes for the good of humanity that people don't appreciate. The story of the struggle is awesome.

Secondhand Lions

Another movie with Michael Caine! He's a great actor. Like Batman Begins, I love how the movie helps us get to know the two grumpy old men and what makes them who they are. The movie also tickles my funny bone in just the right way, with how the two old guys just do and say what they want to and don't hold back.

Ocean's Eleven

To be honest, I dunno what I like about this movie. I just like it.

Favorite TV shows

I also enjoy Nature & Historical documentary shows. Sci-Fi

Flashpoint

Flashpoint is my favorite TV series, not to be confused with the movie of the same title (which I've never seen). I love the psychological aspect of the show.

White Collar

It's been a while since I've watched White Collar, but it's just a fun show. The relationship between the main character and the FBI character is fun.

Leverage

This show gets to be predictable pretty quick, but I still like it. Things never go according to plan, and so while you know the solution proposed in the beginning of the show isn't going to work out, it's fun to see what does end up working out for them. I enjoy putting my reality filter down several notches and watching this show.

Music

Growing up, Light FM 100 (for those of you who lived in Utah in the 80's and 90's) was the only approved radio station to listen to. I recall my mom talking about how Madonna was so bad... and then my Grandpa (Dad's side) & some aunts came to visit wearing Madonna T-shirts from a concert they'd been to. My poor child-mind was very confused, thinking that my grandpa and aunts who I loved listened to evil music.

I'm uncomfortable sharing what music I like with people -- even my friends haven't had a full view into my music tastes. My therapist told me I should post all of my music tastes here, even the ones that are "bad" or are "guilty pleasures." As of when this page is initially created, I haven't done that yet. However, I will post some music so you can start to get a taste of what I like. Come back later and you might find some of the music I like that I don't play when anyone else is present.

Current Favorites - Pop and other

Not necessarily in order, but the top 30-ish are for sure some of my favorites.

There is a lot of music I listen to on Sundays that I haven't found on Spotify. I think some of these are from old EFY music or from the Seminary music from when I attended Seminary. Some songs in that bucket include:

  • I will forgive (unknown)
  • Strength beyond my own (unknown)
